In 2024, J. Cole released a surprise mixtape titled Might Delete Later. This project dropped shortly after two YouTube video surfaced, highlighting Cole in the process of creating new music and engaging local artists and fans. Inspired by the aesthetics of vintage rap DVDs, the visuals capture Cole’s hunger, struggles and motivation as he steps into a new chapter of his artistic journey.
As Art Director for this project I creating assets complementing the video releases as well as the mixtape artwork. Using VHS, CR TV textures, and layered photoshop effects, we brought the nostalgic world to life on the cover and throughout all the visuals. The results show a body of work that feels rooted in hip-hops past becoming something memorable.
